About Us
NomiLab Collaborative was born out of a desire to create architecture that seamlessly integrates intelligent, high performing ideas into practical, well-crafted environments for our clients.
We pride ourselves on listening closely and responding thoughtfully to each client’s goals and each site’s unique context. Getting the opportunity to know our clients, their businesses, families, communities and vision for the future is one of the best parts of our job. Knowing our clients and collaboratively working together helps us design spaces they will thrive in for decades to come.
Our design philosophy can be best described through the following three concepts: research, craft and collaboration.
Our values are based in a growing body of research in healthy buildings and cognitive psychology. We invest in learning the latest research and networking with researchers so we can translate, integrate and even collaborate with the ideas and the people who can help us design spaces that nurture the needs of our clients.
Our work is rooted in a passion for material and craft. With a background in making, we view design as a continuous process from the first sketch to the finishing touches. We also know that materials doesn’t just create shelter; they can be treated in a way that elegantly elevates architecture when treated with craft.
We know that bringing the right people and insights into the design process is essential to the success of every project. Collaborative is part of our company name because we believe that beyond assembling experienced, dynamic teams, we strive to work collaboratively with our clients, consultants, city officials and contractors to deliver successful projects.
Our Work
When people ask what we do, we say that we design spaces for individuals to have a sense of intimacy with their environment and for communities to feel a sense of place and belonging. Adaptive Reuse and Tenant Improvement
Helping businesses reimagine existing buildings and ‘shell’ spaces into places that support growth, enhance their brands and reflect their identity. We are good at making small spaces more functional within a defined footprint.
Commercial Housing
Designing thoughtful, community-centered housing with a focus on affordable and ‘missing middle’ projects. We thrive on working with diverse communities that require extra attention to designing spaces that foster a sense of dignity and belonging.
Educational Spaces
From K–12 renovations to projects for higher education institutions, we create environments that support learning. We know that learning and collaboration isn't limited to classrooms. We think through innovative opportunities for design to provide support for growth across campus environments.
Residential Design
Designing homes, additions, renovations, ADUs, artist studios, and more—spaces designed to help people live more fully. We love working with homeowners to help them live more efficiently in the space they have or realize their dreams of a house specifically built for their needs.
